Naranayan, 85 years, was the first Dalit to reach the Indian presidency. He fell into a coma last week after an acute arterial blockage and was kept alive by a ventilator.

The CBCI spokesman, Fr Joseph Babu, expressed the bishops’ sentiments of mourning, joining with the rest of the nation in grieving Naranayan’s death. He said Naranayan “symbolized the resurgent India in so many different ways. We have known him as a person who contributed to the nation in different areas of service and rose to the highest office of the country and gave a sterling leadership during his tenure”.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8070362.post-1131936444908865542005-11-14T08:17:00.000+05:302005-11-14T08:17:00.000+05:30>>Vajpei and party has nothing to do with Hinduism...>>Vajpei and party has nothing to do with Hinduism anyway.

Good, then they'll be all "secular" Indians like our Ulta-Pulta Alliance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8070362.post-1131858079430816282005-11-13T10:31:00.000+05:302005-11-13T10:31:00.000+05:30> Hindu Prime minister Atal Bihari > Vajpayee le...> Hindu Prime minister Atal Bihari
> Vajpayee leader of a Hindu led
> coaliation, member of a Hindu
> 'fundamentalists' party?

That's right, good suggestion.
