- Tap into his guy mind-set: When it comes to meeting men, it helps to have something specific to talk about. The next time you see a hot dude on the weekend, look for a clue to his personality before starting a conversation. for example, if he's wearing a "I love cricket" cap, approach him with "I noticed your hat, are you into racing?" It's an opener that seems natural, not caontrived [sic]. Plus, he'll feel comfortable around you because you're talking about something he really gets.
Superb advice, no? So you see, ever since I read this, I've been wearing my red "RedHat" hat (how do you like that?) and strutting around. I figure all the women in the city have read this little item in the Bombay Times, because I've now lost count of the number of lovely ladies who have approached me asking "I noticed your hat, are you into racing?"
Of course, they then dart away convulsed in laughter. But for that fraction of a second, I feel comfortable around them because they are talking about something I really get.
Or not. Forget it.

That explains the woman who came to me this morning and said, "You aren't wearing a hat. Don't you like racing?" At least I am a hot dude, though I am not sure as it is not the weekend yet.
I have a RedHat hat too, which I got for the Mumnbai marathon. Did you run as well?
Anurag, my wife and I walked the 7km stretch. I have hopes, fading fast, of doing the half-marathon next year.
Important question, do you or do you not like racing, hat or no hat?
Dilip, running a half marathon is great fun. It is the best race. A marathon is too long, seven km too short. Half marathon is the perfect distance. I want to do a full marathon next year, but I need to start practising sometime around now.
I don't like racing. :(( Unless I am the one running.
Now if I have my wife's permission, I will wear my Led Zeppelin t-shirt because girls everywhere love Mozart's music.

I'll wear a hat.......and then my wife will spot me wearing it, and then i'll try to explain why i'm wearing it, and she won't think it's funny.....and there goes the rest of my week :-(
I have a hat that says, "My name is Vadekar." It works.
And there was a time when I was young and impressionable when I was in absolute awe of the TOI. A friend took me to the canteen for chai, negotiating her way through a maze of warren like offices and the spacey music channel office - and I was like wow Bachi works here - I will grow up and if I really make it , I will work here - not ;(
And now TOI is like a symbol of all that is bright and shiny and wrong with the new India. Management loves it, no?
