Jeeves, I always heard, was a funny guy. Then I tried reading PG Wodehouse and I couldn't see the humour. Now I know from personal experience that saying this about PGW is, in some circles, the highest form of sacrilege and blasphemy possible. But don't shoot, you multitudes of Wodehouse fans, you paragons of wit, you! Spare me this time. Because I've finally found out that Jeeves is funny.
Well, at least this Jeeves.

It's a laugh riot!
Jeeves, I always heard, was a funny guy.
Hm, I never heard that and I don't remember him being funny. Intelligent, erudite, well-read, yes. But I don't remember any jokes from him. He never even permitted himself a smile, beyond a quiet quiver of the edges of the lips. He could sometimes be witty, but not in a laugh-out-loud way.
It was his interplay with Bertie Wooster that was funny. If you didn't "get" it, too bad...
I much prefer the Blandings Castle books myself (now if you don't find those funny, there's definitely something wrong with you!)
