The lines are from Walt Whitman's poem "Song of Myself" in "Leaves of Grass". The movie- no idea.

Pankaj, what Boskoe says. A wonderful film. Has some other poetry gems too. Poetry has never done much for me, but you watch this film and it makes you want to go read some.
What is the mistake the film makes in the lines?

Sorry Pankaj! The mistake is that Robin Williams writes the lines on the board saying "rooftops" instead of "roofs".
