Knot important

There's a war on in Iraq, with car-bombs and other mayhem killing more every day. There's a trial underway of the accused in a ghastly multiple-murder a few months ago in Kherlanji. There's new evidence almost by the hour of the further depraved killings by a man and his man Friday in a place called Nithari near Delhi. There's news that the human growth hormone (HGH) may not be quite the elixir of youth it held promise of being. The Chief of Israel's Army has resigned. Fidel Castro is reportedly not likely to recover.

I mean, I could go on and on. There's all kinds of news bursting forth from all over this country and the world.

So naturally, I was overjoyed to discover the lead story on the front page of the Times of India two days ago. Yes, it was the most vital and important news of all: Ash, Abhishek to tie the knot soon.

(Not, let it be said, that other papers have given this news any less prominence).

I did not quite check Hindu but I believe atleast that paper would have given this news less prominence..

Indian Media - the less spoken about, the better..

Yeah right!

Hindu will go into raptures when Sitaram Yechury's son/daughter gets married :-)

let's dream of a world when it would actually deserve to be the front page news. No Baghdad, no Nithari to compete with it.
Ah, maybe page -3 crap is not so bad at all. Maybe its futuristic, maybe its wish fulfillment. It definitely is escapism. And not so sure if escapism is such a bad thing at all.
