Giving thanks for football

So while I rumble through another blogging trough (how many will there be?), this question that's always puzzled me:

Why do the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys always play NFL football on Thanksgiving Day? Not each other. But these two invariably figure in games on that day. Why? When did this become a tradition?

Speaking of football, I saw this live. And innumerable times in the days and weeks afterward. Still hard to watch.

Hm... when most Indians (and most people around the world) say "football" they mean quite another sport. And I give thanks for that.

Hi Dilip,

Thanks for leaving that comment on my blog! I can't seem to locate your mail ID on your blog...could you send me a mail from your ID? I have your old iqara.net ID which i think is now defunct. I'll be meeting Mr Bahri tomorrow, so i'll mention it to him. Maybe he never got the mail. Anyway, nice to hear from you, and please keep visiting the blog. And of course, any publicity for my book will be more than welcome!

Ankush.

Google-ji has spoken:

and that's all there is to it. But I guess you could make up an urban legend.
