Real Indians

My post "Mother" generated this comment a little while ago. The text below, without comment:
    Dear Dcubed,

You are a Catholic, you are NOT a real Indian.

That is why you will not be outraged at the treatment meted out to Harbhajan, you will focus on some inanity.

Its OK, we Indians (the real Indians) understand.

Dilip,

What can I say. I'm ashamed. It's nothing new, of course, and yet it is sad -- more so, given the casualness with which it's committed.

I guess we need more "non-real" Indians like you than we need "real Indians" like this jerk.

regards,
asuph

catholic:
(adjective) from kata by + holos whole

2: comprehensive universal; especially : broad in sympathies, tastes, or interests (a catholic taste in music)

Its not OK, I dont understand.

Going by the name of this man who wrote this, he's a Hindu alright. Which makes me come to the point that I am going to make -- does the converse hold true? Are the "real Indians" only Hindus?

I have no doubt in my mind that this man would further be happy dividing lines on statehood, caste and the likes.

Dilip -- more and more I'm beginning to think "Shashi Mohan" is right. "Real Indians" think like him, not like you.

I hope I'm wrong, but the evidence is piling up.

Do virtual Indians tilt at windmills?

Most Indians are measured in terms of their religion...its apalling and dismaying...

If one is a catholic...it is believed that there is very little Indian in them...

Even today if a good christian speaks flawless Hindu, there will be some fool out there commenting "Oh! my God...you a catholic. How come but you speak Hindi so well?"

Shocking but its true

As a practising Sikh, I am used to facing ridicule, in various forms, on account of my faith.

So, I find it rather amusing how 'real Indians' seem to be taking up cudgels in favour of Harbhajan Singh!

Dilip, there is a moron here in San Francisco, called Rajeev Srinivasan. He claims to be a "Hindu Nationalist" and his idea of an "Indian" terrifies me, when I think of the future of my country, which is dear to my heart. In his view, all of us Christians are anti-national. Incidentally this guy, after passing out of the IIT, jumped the fence even before the ink on his degree certificate dried. I too passed out of the IIT, but worked for 20 years in India before I came here to the USA. Though the USA beckoned, I felt I had to give back to my motherland, at least a little of what she gave me in abundance.
He runs a blog and all he does with a bunch of "co-authors" is write filth about Christians and Christianity in general.
Here is his blog:
