What if he is?

I'm also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the party say. And it is permitted to be said, such things as, "Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim." Well, the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim, he's a Christian. He's always been a Christian. But the really right answer is: What if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not America. Is there something wrong with some 7-year-old Muslim American kid believing that he or she could be president? Yet I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, "He's a Muslim and he might be associated with terrorists." This is not the way we should be doing it in America.

- Colin Powell, not just endorsing Barack Obama for President, but in doing so, also "defen[ding] Muslim Americans against stereotypes about their patriotism" (Johanna Neuman).

Dilip, where's the Rajasthani mucchad? (This banner looks great too, but that one was *so much* cooler:))

Re Mr. Powerll's comment - I wonder if the "undecideds" paid attention to this endorsement? (I know the media and the pundits did but..) After his exit, does he even have the same cachet he once had?

km, frankly I don't think too many undecideds will pay attention to Powell's endorsement and vote for OBama. That's OK, actually. I think the really noteworthy thing about his endorsement is what he said about Obama's middle name and the insinuations being made. If that gets people thinking, that's enough.

As for the mucchad ... I switch the banner from time to time, that's all. Maybe the Rajasthani guy will be back at some point! Glad you liked him.
