Under siege

Today's Washington Post (Saturday Nov 29) carries an essay I wrote after the attacks on my city: Mumbai Under Siege.

Comments welcome.

PS: The "curse word" of the third para and the "expletive" of the last were the same, "behanchod." "Sister-fucker." The Post couldn't use it in print.

do you know why the surrounding couple of blocks were not cordoned off? there was also an incident of a ricocheted bullet hitting bystanders. Even if not absolutely necessary, it would give the security and support team extra elbow room.

Were there psychological counseling services for the rescued hostages?

Take heart fellas! The Wise men have assembled in North Block and are in deep confabulations; reminds me of Rowan Atkinson's quip in The Black Adder 'Baldric, do we have a cunning plan!';such muppets, all the while the country is fast turning into a shooting gallery for the Taliban and their acolytes.

Just read in the TimesofIndia that the police reforms report has been pending before the Wise men since year 2000....The Taliban are shaking with laughter.

Again TimesofIndia reports of a candle light vigil in Mumbai...The Taliban are amused ( and baffled)

....and rumour has it that the Qaida leadership is scared that their LeT mates, having been overcome with such fear as a result of the vigil, might give themselves up to the Indians...only to be reassured to the contrary by goold ol' Dawood who quoted Churchill ( as mentioed in http://ia.rediff.com/money/2007/apr/11guest.htm )
